PLATFORM Magazine
PLATFORM was the brief, but empowerment was the goal. Exploring the tension women face in male-dominated industries, this magazine creates space for women’s voices to be heard. Through tailored styling, a studio setting, and classic black-and-white imagery, the traditional side of the workplace was captured. Yet the inclusion of powerful, unapologetic expressions and the striking emergence of red symbolise far more than a smart editorial. The thread of rebellion running through the visuals represents a breakthrough. Together, they not only show how vital a woman’s place in a male-dominated society is, but also that it should never be underestimated.
From personal perspectives to personal interviews, PLATFORM seamlessly captures the empowered woman. Reinforcing my roles as creative director, journalist, editor, and stylist, I worked alongside emerging models and an upcoming industry photographer. Prioritising their voices, I conducted personal interviews and produced compelling articles for engagement. From my skills in editing via Adobe Photoshop and constructing a sharp layout in Adobe InDesign, to piecing together a short video to further capture the essence of PLATFORM Magazine, I can proudly say that this print was a first-class effort.
Whether it was capturing the strength of a woman or hearing the personal experience of a woman’s struggles in a male-dominated industry, PLATFORM was made for women and their voices. The beauty of this magazine was not the visuals; it was the secret storytelling that even holding this magazine can evoke. Determination, empowerment and above all, true authenticity.
